30 People Detained for Electoral Violations: Current Information from the Ministry of Interior

30 people have been detained in connection with violations of electoral law, announced Deputy Minister of Interior Ivan Anchev. The most reports of violations were registered in the Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs, Varna, and Veliko Tarnovo.

30 people have been detained under the Interior Ministry Act in connection with election violations. This was stated by Deputy Interior Minister Ivan Anchev during a briefing of the Coordinating Council for the preparation of the elections. The data is as of 8:30 a.m. today.

Anchev announced that 22 people were detained in the territory of the Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs (SDVR), three in Burgas and Haskovo, and one each in Varna and Sofia region.

The received signals as of 8:30 a.m. today are 151 signals for violation of the electoral legislation and the political rights of citizens. The most signals are in SDVR – 35, in Varna – 19, and in Veliko Tarnovo – 17. Of all the received signals – 126 are related to the purchase of votes in favor of political parties and coalitions, five are for illegal campaigning, three – for corporate vote, one – for destruction of property, and 16 – for other violations related to the electoral process, Anchev said.

The pre-trial proceedings initiated are 53, the Deputy Minister added. He added that 26 are disciplinary proceedings, which are being investigated in the usual manner. According to him, 27 are fast-track proceedings.
