GERB leader Boyko Borisov stated in Yambol that after the elections, every voting machine will be monitored by the police. He clarified that this does not refer to uniformed officers, but to "those with screwdrivers."
During his visit, Borisov introduced the new regional coordinator of GERB in Yambol – Nikolay Kostadinov, who served as deputy regional governor until the spring. Kostadinov takes over the position from Dimitar Ivanov, who was a member of parliament until the parliamentary elections in April this year.
In response to a journalist's question regarding the party's candidate for the presidential election, Borisov pointed out: "The presidential candidate will appear when the time is right." He added that the Executive Commission is working on renewing the party's personnel through the GERB academy.
"Right now, the foundation and everything required of me and the Executive Commission is to refresh, to make changes within the party, so we can bring in more new people," commented the GERB leader.
Borisov recalled the incident from the April elections, where Vladimir Temelkov demonstrated opening a machine with a screwdriver. He criticized the former chair of the CEC, Kameliya Neykova, noting: "As a reward, she is currently the Chief Secretary of the Council of Ministers."
According to Borisov, the government's intentions to have the Ministry of Interior monitor the machines are public knowledge. "Even at night, when the specialists and experts go in now, they will make it so that people vote the way they want. And the flash drives will ultimately report just that," he stated. According to him, the current situation with the machines stored in warehouses resembles surveillance methods used in Russia.
