Experts define 2025 as a turning point in modern history, marked by profound transformations in the global geopolitical and economic reality. According to the World Economic Forum (WEF) analyses, fundamental changes are occurring that will transform international relations and social structures.

The geopolitical map is being redrawn through a series of regional conflicts – the wars in Ukraine, the Middle East, and Sudan are creating new lines of tension. Diplomatic trust between countries is drastically decreasing, with economic sanctions becoming a primary tool for political pressure.

Economic fragmentation is generating alternative trade corridors and supply chain restructuring. For Bulgarian businesses, this process opens unexpected opportunities – local companies are beginning to diversify their markets in Central and Eastern Europe, seeking new partnerships beyond traditional economic models.

Artificial intelligence is becoming a primary driver of change, radically transforming the labor market. The technological revolution requires large-scale reskilling of the workforce and development of skills that machines cannot reproduce. Particularly challenging are the so-called "narrative attacks" – risks of manipulative campaigns through artificial intelligence.

Social inequalities are deepening, with women among the most vulnerable groups in terms of technological automation. Bulgaria maintains relatively good positions compared to average European standards, but significant work remains in integrating youth, elderly, and minority communities into the new economic reality.

The forum's recommendations include promoting multilateral dialogue, large-scale investments in human capital, sustainable infrastructure, and technological innovations. For Bulgaria, this means a proactive state policy focused on education, media literacy, and equal access to technologies.

The key message is clear: 2025 is not just another calendar unit, but a critical moment for rethinking global and local development strategies.
