106 fires were extinguished in Bulgaria over the last 24 hours, the General Directorate for "Fire Safety and Population Protection" (GD_FSPP) announced. The scale of the fiery element becomes clear from the service's operational report, published on their official website. Fire department teams responded to a total of 139 distress calls within 24 hours, which highlights the busy schedule of the rescue services.
Despite the serious number of incidents, the good news is that there were no fatalities or injuries among citizens in any of the fires. This is an indicator of the quick and effective intervention of the firefighters, who managed to control the situations before they led to human casualties.
Out of the total of 106 fires, 25 caused material damage. Of these, eight occurred in residential buildings, putting people's homes and property at risk. The remaining 81 fires were extinguished in a timely manner, without causing damage.
In addition to fighting the flames, GD_FSPP employees also carried out 29 rescue and assistance operations. Two of these operations were at car accidents, where firefighters provided assistance to extract the injured and secure the scene of the incident. This data illustrates the wide range of tasks performed by the directorate, which go beyond the usual understanding of extinguishing fires.
