The deputy prime minister Karadzhov ordered an emergency inspection of the Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Railway Infrastructure following the derailment of a freight train.

On the order of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Grozdan Karadjov, the Executive Agency "Railway Administration" (IAZHA) will conduct an urgent inspection of the circumstances that led to the derailment of a freight train between the populated areas of Konyovo and Karmen. The inspection must be completed by June 12 and will cover the maintenance and repair system of the carrier's wagons, the factory that carried out the repair of the derailed wagon, as well as the condition of the railway line at the site of the incident.

The incident occurred this morning around 1 o'clock, when the third wagon of a freight train of a private carrier, carrying sand, derailed. This caused serious damage to the railway, including over 800 damaged sleepers, of which 410 were completely destroyed. Emergency crews of the National Railway Infrastructure Company (NKZHI) worked all night to restore the track, and the wagon was removed just before 9 o'clock.

At the moment, passengers in the section between Stara Zagora and Yambol are being transported by bus, but it is expected that train traffic will be restored by the end of the day, although with a speed limit, until the full restoration of the railway line is completed.
