The newly appointed Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Bulgaria, H.E. Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, discussed with the Chairman of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Tsvetan Simeonov the opportunities for the development of bilateral trade and economic relations. The visit to the Chamber took place just days after the diplomat presented a copy of her credentials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Nguyen Tan Hai, Head of the Trade Section, and Doan Minh Nguyen, First Secretary at the Embassy of Vietnam in Sofia, also participated in the meeting. Tsvetan Simeonov introduced the guests to the activities of the BCCI, the regional structure, and the Council of Branch Organizations within the Chamber. He stressed that Vietnam is an important trade partner of Bulgaria in Southeast Asia.
H.E. Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet shared that there is a traditionally good cooperation between the two countries, with trade turnover increasing every year, but there is still untapped potential. She noted that in 2024, several initiatives were held, including an intergovernmental joint commission in Sofia and a visit by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria to Vietnam, which can contribute to further development of trade and economic relations.
In this regard, the Ambassador informed that the Embassy, together with the BCCI, are organizing a Bulgarian-Vietnamese Forum for Economic Cooperation, which will be held on July 3 at the BCCI. The event is organized on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Bulgaria and aims to strengthen economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the countries.
During the meeting, the possibilities for cooperation in the field of arbitration proceedings, establishing contacts between tour operators from Bulgaria and Vietnam to promote tourism opportunities in both countries, as well as issues related to the import of labor and working conditions were also discussed.
In conclusion, Tsvetan Simeonov wished the newly appointed Ambassador success and expressed the readiness of the BCCI to support the implementation of her goals for activating bilateral cooperation during her term in Sofia.
