On the second day of the large-scale police operation, carried out by employees of the General Directorate "National Police" and the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior - Veliko Tarnovo, two checkpoints were set up along the section from the regional city to Byala. The focus of the checks was mainly on cargo vehicles and vehicles in transit through the country.
All methods of traffic control are being applied, including linear control with an unmarked police car, which monitors the behavior of road users, said Chief Inspector Lachezar Bliznikov, Head of the Traffic Control and Law Enforcement Sector at the Road Police Department of the General Directorate of the National Police.
During the two-day operation, over 400 vehicles and over 460 citizens were checked. No drivers were found to have consumed alcohol, but yesterday a driver was found to have used drugs, and a child was traveling with him in the car. 54 vehicle defects were found, 6 of which were stopped from moving. Many drivers with aggressive behavior on the road were also identified.
Identical operations are being carried out throughout the country, covering the main road directions for the movement of cargo vehicles. Speed limits are being controlled, and an organization has been created for the immediate imposition of penalties and payment of fines by foreign citizens on the spot. The goal is to send a clear message to foreign citizens that we insist that the traffic rules in our country be obeyed, Chief Inspector Lachezar Bliznikov also emphasized.
