Recovery of traffic on road III-866 Mihalkovo - Krichim after heavy rainfall

Starting from today, June 5, 2025, the movement for all types of vehicles on road III-866 Mihalkovo - Krichim between km 73 and km 81 is being restored. Traffic at km 79 will be regulated by traffic lights until the start of construction and installation work in the section.

We remind you that as a result of the heavy rains between May 10 and 14, 2025 and the subsequent oversaturation of the embankment, part of the existing stone masonry retaining wall at km 79 of the third-class road was destroyed. This necessitated the temporary redirection of heavy traffic to detour routes, while the movement of light vehicles up to 3.5 tons was restored on May 31.

The Road Infrastructure Agency has taken urgent and immediate action to permanently restore the section. After an inspection and establishing the urgency of the activities, contracts were concluded under the Public Procurement Act for design, construction and construction supervision for the reinforcement of the compromised section. A study and design of a section with a length of about 280 m, the construction of a new culvert, asphalt works, drainage and others are envisaged.

A partial working project has already been developed and is scheduled to be reviewed by an expert council at the Road Infrastructure Agency on June 9. After that, the documentation will be submitted to the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works for the issuance of a construction permit and the start of construction and installation activities.
