Broken illegal tobacco processing factory near Plovdiv

The operation to counter the smuggling of excise goods was carried out last week by officers of the Fifth Police Department in Plovdiv. Under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office - Plovdiv, procedural and investigative actions were carried out in a building in a village in the municipality of Saedinenie. There were found a barrel and two sacks with tobacco leaf mass, the exact weight of which remains to be determined. A cutting machine, a scale, two moisture-absorbing devices, and about 130 kilograms of shredded tobacco were also seized.

Three Plovdiv residents were detained on the spot, against whom pre-trial proceedings have been initiated for a crime under Art. 234, para. 1 of the Criminal Code. By a decree of the supervising district prosecutor, the men have been brought as accused.
