The government signs the first agreements for the year on financing municipal projects

The Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Ivan Ivanov, stated that the government has a commitment to every region in the country, and evidence of this is the restart of the Investment Program for financing municipal projects from the state budget. Although delayed, the program is now a fact, and the process will continue until the signing of all agreements that remained from last year, as well as the new ones that will enter at a later stage.

At the Ministry today, the first agreements for this year were signed with 42 municipalities for the implementation of municipal projects financed from the state budget. Minister Ivanov emphasized that the care of the state towards local communities and citizens is important not only for the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works but also for the entire government, and that the party management of the municipalities is not important for the financing of the projects, but the significance of the sites for the local people.

Ivan Ivanov expressed hope that in the coming days, the necessary funds for the projects will be provided by the Ministry of Finance, so that the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works can start payments to the municipalities. He informed that a schedule has been prepared - during the months of June, July, August, and September, the old obligations and part of the new ones will be paid, and after that, the payments will be taken over by the Bulgarian Development Bank, which will pay the remaining 900 million BGN.

Minister Ivanov announced that next year this program will continue, and with the commitment made by the state to the municipalities, in the amount of 1.650 billion BGN, the government will cover a large part of the expenses that are pending or have been made for the implementation of infrastructure projects by the local authorities. The signing of new agreements will continue in the coming days.
