The Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov and the U.S. Assistant Trade Representative Daniel Lee held talks focused on the protection of intellectual property and active counteraction of piracy. Mitov emphasized that the Ministry of Interior and the new government of Bulgaria have a clear and unequivocal will to reliably protect intellectual property, as evidenced by the removal of over 30 websites and torrent trackers violating copyrights.
In turn, the Director of the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, Chief Commissioner Boyan Raev, presented the activities of the directorate in relation to counteracting piracy. The American side expressed gratitude for the good cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime in the protection of intellectual property.
Minister Mitov stated that among the main priorities of the "Zhelyazkov" cabinet is the restoration of transparent and fair conditions and a secure environment for the work of American companies in Bulgaria. The new Bulgarian government is determined to attract as many investments as possible from the United States and our partners in the European Union. He emphasized that Bulgaria already has a stable and responsible regular cabinet, and the country's entry into the Eurozone will be a fact on January 1, 2026.
The talks were held during the working visit of the Ministry of Interior delegation to the United States, led by Minister Mitov and including the directors of the main directorates "National Police", "Combating Organized Crime" and "Border Police".
