The government and leading employer organizations in Bulgaria are uniting efforts to ensure a smooth, fair and predictable transition to the single European currency. On June 10, 2025, the Association of Organizations of Bulgarian Employers (AOBE) and the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in relation to the preparation for the introduction of the euro.

The document provides for strengthening public confidence in the process, protecting consumers and preventing unfair business practices and price speculation. The government and employers undertake to exchange information, provide expert support and assist in the organizational and technical preparation of the transition.

"This is the format in which the Bulgarian economy and government, with the help of trade unions and employers, are building a sustainable and predictable business environment, for increasing the well-being of the people and for protecting the socio-economic rights of the people. The goal is not only deeper integration into the economic and institutional framework of the EU, but also effective, smooth and trouble-free introduction of the euro for consumers and economic operators in the country," said Prime Minister Rosen Zhelezkov.

AOBE undertook to provide all information and knowledge regarding the introduction of the euro in the most clear and correct manner to all manufacturers, processors, traders and self-employed persons. Employer organizations expressed full readiness and willingness to present not just the benefits, but the truth about the euro.

The signed Memorandum is part of Bulgaria's efforts to meet the criteria for joining the Eurozone on January 1, 2026. The government and business are working together to ensure a sustainable and predictable environment for a smooth transition to the single European currency.
