With the arrival of the summer season and the rise in temperatures, the risk of fires is significantly increasing. In this regard, the Municipality of Burgas reminds all owners and users of properties that they are obliged to maintain the vegetation on their property in good condition. Overgrown and dry vegetation on private properties poses a serious danger - not only for the owners, but also for neighboring properties, forest areas, and populated areas. Often, it is from such areas that fires start, which then spread uncontrollably.
According to the Ordinance on the Construction and Protection of the Green System in the territory of the Municipality of Burgas, owners are obliged to clean and maintain the green areas on their properties, including the removal of dry and overgrown vegetation, to take measures to prevent the spread of fires, and to cooperate with the responsible institutions during inspections and prescriptions. Open-air burning is strictly prohibited, especially in neighborhoods with yards, villages, and villa zones, where a dangerous practice of burning branches, mowed grass, and other plant waste is observed.
Violators are subject to sanctions under the applicable legislation, including administrative fines. We call on all citizens to act responsibly - let's take care of the safety and good appearance of our municipality together. With preventive actions today, we can prevent serious incidents tomorrow. For reports on abandoned and neglected properties, as well as unauthorized waste burning, you can contact the respective district mayors' offices or use the platform for citizen reports on the website of the Municipality of Burgas.
