New elastomeric composites with wide application in key sectors presented at BCCI

On May 30, 2025, the Deputy Chairman of BCCI, Dr. Vasil Todorov, opened a business discussion where the industrial applications of developed elastomeric composites were presented. The event was organized as part of the Chamber's partnership with the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy (UCTM).

The purpose of the forum was to present the results of the work under a jointly funded contract between UCTM and Centre for disruptive innovation Ltd on the BiOrgaMCT project (Bioactive organic and inorganic advanced materials and clean technologies) under procedure BG-RRP-2.004 - Establishing a network of research higher education institutions in Bulgaria under the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan.

Prof. DSc Nikolay Dishovski from UCTM presented information on the developed elastomer-based composites with applications for electromagnetic shielding in the range of 1-18 GHz, for antistatic coatings, and as substrates and insulating layers in flexible antennas for wireless communications. The materials have been developed in two versions - as sheets of different thicknesses and as liquid compositions with painting application capabilities.

The measurements carried out show that the developed materials provide reliable protection against unwanted electromagnetic radiation and static electricity buildup. Nearly 50 representatives of companies and research organizations showed interest in the event and participated in the subsequent discussion.

The innovative developments are expected to be implemented in sectors such as paint and varnish production, military products, telecommunications equipment, products for protection against electromagnetic waves, and others. Due to the increased interest in such forums, BCCI plans to continue its cooperation with UCTM in this direction.
