The Minister of Education Krasimir Valchev emphasizes the importance of joint efforts with the business sector to increase the attractiveness of technical education among young people. Together, they work to increase the admission to technical specialties and improve the quality of training to meet the needs of employers.

Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev emphasized that the biggest economic losses in the future will be if we fail to provide the necessary staff for the industries. He pointed out that since 2016, a policy for financing higher education has been implemented based on the demand on the labor market, which has led to a significant increase in the admission to technical and natural sciences, both at universities and in vocational high schools.

Valchev stressed that together with the business, efforts should continue to popularize the working conditions in the industries, so that this education becomes more sought after among young people and students. "We are allies and it is very important to work together and in coordination to achieve sustainable results," said the Minister.

For the new academic year, the admission for mechanical engineers in higher education institutions is increasing. Valchev explained that it is important to maintain a high quality of education, which is why discussions have begun with universities regarding the requirements for students and the admission conditions for certain specialties. As an example, he gave the specialty "Economics", where this year 15% of the admission will be tied to the grade from the matriculation exam in mathematics, and next year this share will increase to 50%. A similar discussion is pending for engineering specialties, where the balance between the shortage of staff and the requirements for them is very difficult.

The meeting in which Minister Valchev participated was opened by the Chairman of the Management Board of the Bulgarian Branch Chamber of Machine Building Violin Nenov. The Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, the Deputy Minister of Labor Gergana Aleksova-Velikova, the Member of Parliament Petya Zankova, the Regional Governor of Pazardzhik Valentina Kaytazova and the Mayor of Pazardzhik Petar Kulenski also took part in it.
