According to Barbalov, small and medium-sized enterprises are key drivers of the environmental and digital transformation in Europe. In today's dynamic business environment, these companies need to be flexible, innovative, and efficient to remain competitive and achieve sustainable growth.
During an Information Event organized by the Executive Agency "Bulgarian Accreditation Service" on the occasion of their professional holiday and World Accreditation Day, Deputy Minister Barbalov emphasized the importance of accreditation for the economic life of the country. It helps to protect the end consumer by guaranteeing the quality of the offered goods and services.
According to Barbalov, achieving a climate-neutral, resource-efficient, and flexible circular economy, as well as increasing resilience, require the active participation of small and medium-sized enterprises. Certification to standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 improves consumption, energy efficiency, and reduces costs and environmental impact.
Barbalov congratulated the Bulgarian Accreditation Service for their objective, independent, and impartial activities, which increase efficiency, guarantee quality, and promote innovation. He assured that the Ministry of Economy and Industry will continue to be an active partner and provide institutional support to address the challenges.
The event was attended by representatives of the State Agency for Metrological and Technical Supervision, the Union of Metrologists in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Institute of Metrology, and others.
