Kaspican invests in a modern system for separate collection and recycling of biowaste

Kaspican will have a new system for separate collection and recycling of biowaste, thanks to an investment of over BGN 1 million. The project, co-financed by the Environment Program, envisages the construction of a composting facility with two separate branches for food and green waste.

The municipality of Kaspichan will build an innovative system for separate collection and recycling of biodegradable waste, thanks to an investment of over BGN 1 million, co-financed under the Environment Program 2021-2027. Minister Manol Genov and Mayor Zlatin Tsenkov signed a contract providing over BGN 670 thousand in grant aid for the project.

The new system will allow the collection and transportation of over 846 tons of food and green waste annually. A composting facility with two separate branches is planned: one for food waste (with a capacity of 395 tons per year) and another for green and wood waste (with a capacity of nearly 452 tons per year). Green waste will be composted in special enclosed cells, according to a pre-developed recipe for optimal mixing.

The project is part of the procedure "Measures for the construction, expansion and/or upgrading of municipal/regional systems for separate collection and recycling of biodegradable waste" and is expected to be completed within 20 months.
