Effective measures to combat anti-Semitism in Bulgaria

On May 22, 2025, Deputy Minister Elena Shekerletova, in her capacity as the national coordinator for the fight against antisemitism, convened a meeting of the Contact Group for Countering Antisemitism at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was attended by representatives of various ministries and agencies, as well as organizations of Bulgarian Jews. The main topic of the discussion was the implementation of the National Action Plan for Combating Antisemitism (2023-2027) and the upcoming international events in which the Republic of Bulgaria is expected to participate. All participants confirmed the importance of the historical traditions of unity, respect, solidarity and harmonious coexistence in Bulgarian society.

The appointment of Deputy Minister Elena Shekerletova as the national coordinator for the fight against antisemitism is in implementation of Decision of the Council of Ministers No. 874 of 2022, according to Order No. 95-00-67/19.05.2025 of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev.
