The second edition of the Black Sea International Literary Festival will be held from June 5 to 8 in Burgas. The event is organized by the Municipality of Burgas with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and will gather over 60 writers, translators, publishers and literary professionals from Bulgaria, Turkey, Ukraine, Georgia and Romania.
The festival is dedicated to Bozhana Apostolova, who recently passed away. "We dedicate it to her, as we want to pay her the deserved tribute. Bozhana Apostolova is the mother of contemporary Bulgarian literature," said Svetlozar Zhelev, the organizer of the event.
The program includes literary readings, professional panels and meetings with readers. Renowned participants include Georgi Gospodinov, Kapka Kasabova, Viktoria Beshliyska, Zahari Karabashliev, Tudor Ganea, Iva Pezuashvili, Archil Kikodze and others.
The professional panels will discuss topics such as children's books in the Black Sea region, literary tourism, the relationship between literature and politics, the challenges of translation, and the opportunities offered by the EUPL award.
The event aims to create a platform for sustainable cultural dialogue and cooperation between the countries of the Black Sea basin, opening new spaces for professional exchange and exciting encounters with their literatures.
The festival is organized by the Municipality of Burgas, with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, and in partnership with a number of Bulgarian and international organizations.
