On May 27, 2025, it was announced that Kameliya Elkeneva from Burgas is the grand winner of the International Literary Competition "The Magic Pen". The competition, organized by the Bulgarian Sunday School "Ivan Vazov" in Paris, gathers works in Bulgarian from authors around the world and is held for the second consecutive year with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science.
Kameliya is a student at the Specialized High School of Foreign Languages "Vasil Levski" in Burgas and is part of the creative writing group "The Flyers" at the Center for Young Talents in the city, led by Dr. Dobrina Topalova. At just 16 years old, she is among the younger participants in the group, but that did not prevent her talent from being noticed and appreciated by the authoritative jury of the competition.
Kameliya's award-winning work is the story "Sons" - a philosophical and artistic interpretation of the myth of Icarus and the Minotaur. The jury, led by the chairman Zdravka Evtimova and members Katya Kremer, Lili Spasova and Radoslav Gizgindzhiev, determined the work as "beautiful in its message" and worthy of the grand prize.
Kameliya Elkeneva's victory is even more impressive, given the fact that she is among the younger participants in the competition, but manages to exceed expectations and prevail over the competition of talented authors from around the world writing in Bulgarian.
