Thursday, 12 June 2025, the Municipality of Burgas officially joined the National Campaign "Climate Resorts of Bulgaria", organized by the Bulgarian Association for Climate Treatment and Health Tourism. The purpose of the initiative is to inform the local community and authorities about this essential status of nearly 90 municipalities in the country and to promote Bulgaria as a destination for climate treatment and health tourism.
During the meeting between the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality responsible for "Sports and Tourism" Manol Todorov and representatives of the Association, the potential of the region in this direction was discussed. Valentin Atanasov, Chairman of the Board of BACZT, informed the Deputy Mayor that as early as 1953, Burgas was declared a National Climate Sea Resort of national importance by a Council of Ministers Decree No. 741, together with Pomorie - the oldest climate sea National Resorts on the Southern Black Sea Coast.
Manol Todorov announced the inclusion of the Municipality of Burgas in the National Information Campaign "Climate Resorts of Bulgaria" and the Municipality's desire to promote this status, using the opportunities for climate treatment, prevention and health tourism, in order to attract more tourists and sports teams for summer, preparatory and rehabilitation camps. In this way, Burgas and the Strandzha Mountain can become a maritime alternative to the sports camps in Belmeken.
According to Yanitsa Dineva from the Board of the Bulgarian Association for Climate Treatment and Health Tourism, it is important for Burgas to be advertised as a destination for Climate Tourism and climate recovery in the biosphere of one of our oldest climate resorts in Bulgaria. Very soon, information boards will welcome the residents and guests of the city, and in the municipality's advertising - this will be one of the new brand and vision for a year-round tourist destination.
