The Regional Health Inspectorate in Burgas informs that in connection with the National Program for Prevention and Control of Tuberculosis, an Open Door Week with free tuberculosis examinations will be organized. The campaign will take place in the period June 16-20, 2025 at the Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment of Pneumo-Physiotherapeutic Diseases (SHAPTPD Burgas EOOD) in the time range from 9:00 to 17:00.
The Open Door Week includes a risk screening for tuberculosis through a questionnaire, consultations, as well as examinations and additional tests for persons with suspected tuberculosis. Tuberculosis affects all countries and age groups, with a morbidity rate in the country for 2024 of 13.7 per 100,000 people, with 913 registered cases. In comparison, in 2014 the number of registered persons with tuberculosis was 1872, with the trend being that more men than women.
Ending the tuberculosis epidemic by 2030 is among the health priorities in the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Timely detection and correct diagnosis are among the challenges facing the health sector.
