Burgas comes alive with the memory of the forgotten builder Stoyan Shivachev

On June 3 at 6:30 pm, an event dedicated to Stoyan Shivachev - a prominent teacher, lawyer, public figure and intellectual from the 19th century, whose significance for the development of Burgas is almost forgotten today, will be held at the Center for Contemporary Art and Library - Burgas. The project "The Unknown Today Stoyan Shivachev - One of the Famous Builders of Burgas" is an initiative of the "Chance for the Children and Nature of Bulgaria" Foundation and the Center for Young Talents - Burgas, with the support of the Culture Fund of the Municipality of Burgas.

The young authors from the creative writing club "For the Flying People" at the Center for Young Talents, under the guidance of Dr. Dobrina Topalova, have researched Shivachev's biography, meeting with historians, local historians and his relatives, traveling to Sozopol and Malko Tarnovo, and digging in archives to fill in the missing pages of his history. The result of their efforts is a documentary film and an honorary certificate, which will be presented at the event.

Stoyan Shivachev was born in Malko Tarnovo in the 19th century and played a key role in the construction of modern Burgas, but today his name and deeds are almost forgotten. The young authors have also created an article about Shivachev in the largest online encyclopedia - "Wikipedia", to popularize his life and work.

Each guest at the event will receive the specially made honorary certificate as a gift, and part of the edition will be distributed in Burgas schools. The project is a natural continuation of the mission of the "Chance for the Children and Nature of Bulgaria" Foundation to support talented young people in their educational and creative growth, while preserving cultural memory and inspiring the new generation to discover and tell significant but forgotten stories.
