The Minister of Economy and Industry Petar Dilov participated in the annual meeting of the Council of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) at the ministerial level, held in Paris, France. The Bulgarian delegation to the forum was led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Georgi Georgiev.

The theme of this year's Council of Ministers meeting was "Towards Sustainable and Inclusive Prosperity through Rules-based Trade, Investment and Innovation". The event also provided an opportunity to present the progress of Bulgaria in the process of joining the organisation.

Minister Dilov commented that the benefits for Bulgaria of joining the OECD will unlock the potential of the Bulgarian economy. He stressed that the adoption of the values and good practices of the organisation will send a strong signal to trade partners and international investors.

In his statement, Minister Dilov emphasised that the OECD can provide a forum for international dialogue and support multilateral actions. According to him, the organisation plays a vital role at times when increased international cooperation is needed to address disruptions in trade and investment.

Minister Dilov announced that overcoming uncertainty, increasing trade barriers and a fragmented global economy requires the promotion of rules-based trade. He stressed that it is crucial to increase competitiveness, ensure predictability and strengthen the resilience of supply chains.

The Ministerial Council is the highest forum of the OECD, which oversees the work, sets priorities, discusses the global and economic context and addresses other issues such as the organisation's budget and the accession process. It is attended by ministers of finance, economy, foreign affairs, trade and other government institutions of the OECD member countries and partner countries, as well as representatives of international organisations.
