Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georgi Georgiev visited Budapest at the invitation of his Hungarian counterpart Peter Szijjarto. During the meeting, the two discussed the possibilities for expanding bilateral cooperation in key areas such as energy, military partnership, investments, tourism, education, science and culture.
Minister Georgiev emphasized that the completion of the Vertical Gas Corridor passing through Bulgaria and Hungary will improve the energy security and resilience of the EU. A number of new bilateral agreements were also noted, which will renew and upgrade the contractual and legal framework between the two countries.
"Our strengthened partnership and the agreements reached will contribute to even stronger economic cooperation, especially in strategic areas such as investments, transport and innovation," said Minister Georgiev. He pointed out that increasing Hungarian investments in Bulgaria is a priority, with sectors with great potential being energy, industrial production and transport.
During the meeting, the ministers also discussed key topics on the European and global agenda, including EU enlargement, migration management, NATO cooperation, the war in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.
