In an official ceremony, high-ranking representatives from Bulgarian and Swiss diplomacy launched a large-scale bilateral project for institutional cooperation. Among the key participants were Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, Ambassador Raimund Furer, Ministers Manol Genov and Daniel Mitov.
The signed agreements are part of the Second Swiss Contribution and cover two priority areas – environmental improvements and migration management. The total financial framework amounts to 18.7 million Swiss francs, with a focus on modernizing national systems.
The Ministry of Environment and Water will manage a project worth 15 million francs, aimed at improving air monitoring. The main goal is to create a modern measurement system based on scientific partnerships and precise data.
"We are investing in public health and sustainable urban development," emphasized Minister Genov. He highlighted the need for a modern approach, including accurate measurements, effective tools, and inter-institutional cooperation.
Deputy Prime Minister Donchev added that the project is not just about financial assistance, but represents a platform for exchanging expert experience and building strategic partnerships.
Ambassador Furer, for his part, emphasized the shared interests between the two countries and their confidence in achieving significant results. "We have a shared vision and desire for specific qualitative changes," the diplomat stated.
The second program, related to migration management, complements the comprehensive approach of bilateral cooperation. It aims to build more effective mechanisms for controlling and supporting migration processes.
Experts from both sides emphasized that such joint initiatives are key to institutional development and achieving European standards in critically important areas.
