An international scientific team documented an unprecedented moment of planetary formation by capturing the primary crystallization of solid matter around a young protostar using high-tech space telescopes.

Astronomy specialists from leading research institutions achieved an epoch-making discovery in the field of planetary evolution. On July 20,2025, a research team from the European Southern Observatory revealed fundamental details about the planet formation process.

Through the collaborative work of the ALMA radio telescope and the ultra-modern James Webb space telescope, scientists documented an exceptional phenomenon around the protostar HOPS-315, located 1,300 light-years from Earth.

The scientific team managed to precisely register the moment of silicon monoxide crystallization in the dusty stellar disk. The observation represents the first direct evidence of the mechanisms of planetary body formation, extremely similar to the early stages of development of our Solar System.
