Nessebar's health centre will take blood donors on 28 October from 9am to 1pm. The drive is run by the Regional Centre for Transfusion Haematology in Burgas. Its motto is "Together we can save lives".

Nessebar council backs the drive and asks residents who can give blood and meet the medical requirements to take part.

The blood goes to people who need urgent or life-saving treatment. One donation can help more than one patient.

The council says giving blood is voluntary and can give someone a chance at life. It says every donor helps save lives in practice, and that the strength of a community is also measured by how ready it is to lend a hand when a life is at risk.
