The signal for the dangerous game has been sent by parents who have noticed a new trend among students - a game simulating the use of cocaine and drug dealing. It is distributed online for a subscription of 84 BGN. Parents report that the game contains messages encouraging children to send other children to the street to sell drugs, even to be arrested and killed, while adults receive the profits.
According to the ombudsman's institution, psychologists are already reporting on children and students influenced by such content, which becomes a model that they follow, even unconsciously. The Ombudsman points out that similar games such as "Drug Dealer Simulator", "Cocaine Dealer" and "Schedule I" are available on various platforms, including Steam, and have gained significant popularity in recent years.
In his letter to the competent authorities, the Ombudsman expresses confidence that in the field of education, measures can be expanded to improve the civic and digital literacy of students, as well as the inclusion of issues of safety in the digital environment in conversations with parents. He calls on the State Agency for Child Protection to organize various initiatives, seeking the support of the Children's Council at the Agency. The Ombudsman emphasizes that the Cybersecurity Directorate at the General Directorate of National Police has the expert capacity and competence to recommend possible actions to protect children and young people.
In conclusion, the Ombudsman points out that it is imperative to quickly monitor the Internet regarding the spread and search for this and similar games that encourage children to engage in illegal activities.
