The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences presents innovative developments for business.

Scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) presented their latest technological developments at a special forum organized jointly with the Agency for Small and Medium Enterprises at the Ministry of Innovation and Growth. The event was opened by Deputy Minister Krasimir Yakimov, who outlined future opportunities for financing joint projects between business and the scientific community.

Deputy Minister Krasimir Yakimov emphasized that the state has an obligation to create a favorable environment for the development of companies and to encourage scientific research, by building a sustainable connection between business and academic circles. In this direction, the government is working actively, and procedures for financing joint initiatives will soon be opened.

Yakimov pointed out that a procedure for applying for digital and green technologies with a budget of 60 million BGN is forthcoming, as well as the opening of a resource of 172 million BGN for innovation and transfer of knowledge and technologies for long-term cooperation between industry, SMEs, and the research community. A procedure for the development of existing regional clusters is also upcoming.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that 2023 will be the year of technology transfer, and under the Fund of Funds, a Venture Capital Fund will be structured, whose main goal will be the market realization of scientific developments.

At the forum, scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences presented a number of innovative technologies and projects, including: IoT monitoring of microparticle generation, an unmanned robotic system for automated data collection, development of an artificial passive trihedronal reflector of signals from satellite-based radars, an electroactive biodegradable filament with thermostimulated shape memory for 3D & 4D printing, conversion of waste biomass into a sustainable energy storage material, and others.

In a special expo zone, the institutes of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences also presented other developments, including a demonstration of a titanium chamber for high hydrostatic pressure and novelties in unmanned aerial vehicles.

The event was opened by Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth Krasimir Yakimov and brought together representatives of the business, academic circles, and the management of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Executive Agency for Small and Medium Enterprises.
