US President Donald Trump announced on the social network Truth Social that America has successfully completed an attack on three nuclear facilities in Iran - Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan. According to him, all planes have returned safely, and the US military has shown exceptional abilities. Trump said it is time for peace and resumption of negotiations.
The media reported various details about the strikes. Fox News reported that 6 bombs were dropped on the facilities, while CNN noted that Trump does not plan new attacks and counts on the resumption of negotiations. For its part, Iran confirmed the attacks, but assured that the facilities were evacuated in time and there is no serious damage, as the materials were previously removed.
Nevertheless, the Persian Gulf remains tense, and the cost of Trump's actions quickly took a turn. The president's administration informed the leading Republicans about the strikes, but did not notify the Democrats in Congress. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer reacted sharply, stating that no president should have the right to unilaterally involve the country in something as serious as war.
Iran's Foreign Minister, Araghchi, warned that the US strikes will have irreversible consequences. According to Israeli intelligence, it is too early to give an accurate assessment of the damage, as additional data is needed to understand the scale of the destruction.
However, the Saudi nuclear energy regulator reported that after the strikes, there is no detected radiation in the Persian Gulf countries. Iran, however, does not give up, and the country's Atomic Energy Agency has categorically announced that the nuclear program continues. Iranian media even warned that a new large underground facility for uranium enrichment has recently been put into operation in the country, the location of which is unknown.
According to local authorities in Qom, the Fordow nuclear facility did not suffer serious damage, and most of the destruction is above ground and in the tunnels. Nevertheless, the world remains tense, and the future of Iran's nuclear program remains unclear.
