Burgas is preparing to welcome dozens of runners for a noble cause. On the last weekend of August, the coastal city will host a large-scale event dedicated to the memory of the fallen defenders of Ukraine. The run, organized on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance of Defenders, observed on August 29, aims to honor those who have given their lives for the freedom and independence of their homeland.

"Marathon for the Heroes of Ukraine" for honor and support

The event, called "Marathon for the Heroes of Ukraine", is part of an annual initiative taking place for the eighth consecutive year. Burgas is joining this tradition, and at the same time, events will also be held in Sofia and Plovdiv. With this, Bulgaria shows its support and solidarity with the people of Ukraine, who continue to fight for their sovereignty.

The start is expected to be given on Saturday, August 30, at exactly 9:00 a.m. at the well-known location for Burgas runners - the alley next to the Pantheon in the Sea Garden, near the skate equipment. The route is 5 km long and is specially designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of their fitness level. The organizers emphasize that it is ideal for absolute beginners who want to test their strength, as well as for experienced athletes aiming to improve their personal records. For many of the regular participants in the "5kmRun"-Burgas events, the route is not new, and its beauty is well known.

The event is the result of the joint efforts of the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Burgas, led by the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Burgas, Mr. Dimitar Karanenov, the Municipality of Burgas, and "5km RUN"-Burgas. The organizers point out that anyone can participate, regardless of age or experience, as the event is completely free. Registration will take place on-site, immediately before the start, which makes it easy for anyone who decides to join at the last minute.

The marathon route

The route passes through picturesque parts of the Sea Garden, giving participants the opportunity to enjoy the sea breeze and the green areas. It starts from the alley next to the Pantheon, after which the route continues to the "Flora" Exhibition Center. After bypassing the fitness equipment on the right, the runners go out onto the coastal alley and continue along it to the "Neptun" restaurant. This is followed by a detour around the playground in front of the restaurant, after which the route returns to the coastal alley again. The return path passes through the "Vodenitsata" restaurant and back along the alley, bypassing the fitness equipment, to reach the "Flora" Exhibition Center again. The finish line is at the same place as the start - next to the skate equipment near the Pantheon.

The atmosphere is expected to be filled with a mixture of sportsmanship and deep respect for the heroes in whose memory the event is being held. Numerous enthusiasts and citizens are expected to gather to support the cause and express their sympathy.
