The government of Rosen Zhelyazkov survived its fifth consecutive no-confidence vote, the Prime Minister himself announced after the vote. "This no-confidence vote was not successful and the government continues its work for stability in the country and for partnership with institutions in and outside Bulgaria," Zhelyazkov told the media. The atmosphere in parliament was tense, as if the weight of anticipation for the final result was palpable.
The Prime Minister stressed that the Council of Ministers had carefully listened to the claims, arguments and reasons of the opposition, responding with counterarguments. "We answered you with arguments and reasons. I hope a debate ensued, and that is the meaning of parliamentary control," he added, referring to the essence of the democratic process. The debate, although fierce, according to him, fulfilled its purpose, providing a platform for the exchange of viewpoints.
However, Zhelyazkov did not fail to express serious concern about the escalation of public tension in recent days, directly linked, in his opinion, to the rhetoric used by the parliamentary and extra-parliamentary opposition. He highlighted the goal of these actions: "The goal was to create a semblance of a revolutionary situation," said the Prime Minister, emphasizing that the opposition_q_s actions were aimed at destabilizing the government and creating a false sense of crisis. The tension was palpable in the halls of parliament, and the subsequent discussions were marked by strong emotions and sharp remarks. Regardless of the outcome of the vote, the Prime Minister stressed his firm determination to continue working for stability and cooperation.
