And in the last quarter of 2025, those working in construction and tourism – hotels and restaurants – remain the lowest paid, the Territorial Statistical Bureau "North-East" in Varna announced. As BTA informed, the information from the National Statistical Institute was identical at the beginning of last year.
The average gross monthly salary in the region in October 2025 was just over 2400 leva, in November - 2455 leva and in December - 2512 leva. By this indicator, Varna is in second place in the country, after Sofia (the capital), where the average remuneration in the last quarter of 2025 was 3635 leva.
The statistics show that in the Varna region there is an increase in the average monthly salary compared to the previous quarter of the year by 6.5 percent. The economic spheres in which there is the greatest growth in wages are the production and distribution of electricity and thermal energy, real estate and the extractive industry.
Compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, salaries in the region increased by 8.3 percent. Their increase in the public sector is slightly greater compared to the private sector.
At the end of December last year, the number of employees in the region decreased by 2.3 percent compared to September 2025, according to the Statistical Bureau in Varna. The largest decrease is in the field of tourism and real estate operations. There is an increase in appointments in the financial and insurance sector.
At the end of December 2025, the number of employees increased by 1.8 percent compared to the same period of 2024. The largest increase in employment is in construction, healthcare and social activities.
