Following a specialized police operation, a 63-year-old British citizen was detained in the village of Izvor after numerous cannabis plants were discovered and seized from her property. The operation, led by officers from the "Criminal Police" department of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Burgas, was conducted in the early afternoon of August 26 and uncovered a significant quantity of cultivated narcotic plants.
Acting on a tip, police officers searched a private home in the quiet village, where the woman, a permanent resident of Bulgaria, lives. A small, illegal plantation was implicitly discovered in the yard around the house. The uniformed officers found and seized a total of four cannabis plants, with sizes ranging from 0.60 m to an impressive 2.60 m. These plants had been carefully planted directly in the ground, which suggests deliberate cultivation activity.
In addition to the plants cultivated in the yard, police also discovered an additional nine pots with cannabis plants, which were in different stages of development. This find further supports the hypothesis that this was a case of systematic cultivation of narcotic substances. All plants have been seized and will be examined by experts in a laboratory.
According to the official police statement, the 63-year-old Englishwoman was detained for up to 24 hours by police order. A fast-track proceeding has been initiated in this case. This procedure is standard for such crimes and allows the investigating authorities to collect the necessary evidence in a short time before handing the case over to the prosecutor's office. The motives for the criminal act and whether the woman acted alone or is part of a wider distribution network are yet to be clarified.
