The Presidents of Bulgaria and Azerbaijan, Iliana Iotova and Ilham Aliyev, held a meeting within the framework of the Munich Security Conference. The main topic of the conversation was energy cooperation between the two countries, with specific projects and future prospects being discussed.

President Aliyev emphasized Bulgaria's strategic role as a recipient of energy supplies and a transit country for Europe. Iotova, for her part, emphasized the need for Azerbaijan's active participation in the construction of the continent's energy infrastructure.

Two key projects were discussed: “Solidarity Ring”, which aims to supply gas from Azerbaijan through Bulgaria to Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary, and the “Green Energy Corridor Caspian Sea - Black Sea - Europe“. Iotova highlighted the importance of Bulgaria's geographical location as a transit country and the increased interest in the Black Sea.

In addition to energy cooperation, attention was also paid to the cultural ties between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan, noting the contribution of the Azerbaijani side to the restoration of the historical complex “Trapezitsa” and the upcoming project for the “Shusha” park in Veliko Tarnovo.

Within the framework of the conference, Iotova also met with French President Emmanuel Macron.
