Around 1 degree at dawn, frost on the grass is possible

Sunday in Burgas starts cold. The sky is clear all night, the ground cools quickly and at daybreak the thermometer drops to around 1 degree. At 8 a.m. it is 3 degrees, humidity is 75 percent.

There may be frost on the grass, on car roofs and in low-lying places near Vaya and Atanasovsko Lake. It will hit the tender plants that are still outside first: the geraniums on balconies, basil, the last tomatoes and peppers in the yards of Vetren, Baneovo and Gorno Ezerovo. Anyone who wants to save them should bring the pots indoors tonight or cover the beds with agril fleece or an old sheet. The next night will again drop to around zero.

Up to 9 degrees in the afternoon, dry and sunny

Toward midday the sun warms the air. At 2 p.m. it is 9 degrees, and humidity drops to 47 percent. Outside it will feel at most like 6 degrees, so a jacket is needed even in the warmest hour of the day. The ultraviolet index is 3, the sun does not burn and sunscreen is not needed.

The evening cools quickly. The sun rises at 06:50 and sets at 16:56, and at 8 p.m. it is 4 degrees and humidity climbs back up to 77 percent. There is no precipitation throughout the day.

Southerly wind around 10 km/h

After the windy Saturday, today the wind is light, from the south, around 10 km/h, with gusts up to 17. The wind comes from the direction of the bay and along the Waterfront and at the Bridge it brings damp sea air, which makes the cold more unpleasant in the morning. The sea is calm, with small waves.

Leaves are falling, watering stops

Leaf fall is in full swing. The lindens, chestnuts and plane trees along the streets and in the Sea Garden are shedding leaves, and the sidewalks are covered with them. The dry weather is convenient for collecting them. In the yard it is best to rake the leaves off the grass, because under them it rots and turns yellow. Healthy leaves are good for covering roses, strawberries and bulb beds.

The soil is dry and not frozen, so today you can plant tulips, hyacinths, daffodils and garlic. The lawn is no longer watered. Newly planted shrubs, if there are any, are better watered around midday rather than in the evening, because wet soil and wet leaves catch frost more easily at night. The last mowing can be done now, but not lower than 5 centimeters.

Frost damage on garden plants is easy to recognize: the leaves become dark and soft to the touch. The damaged parts are better cut off after a few dry days, when it is clear what has survived.

Walking and running between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

For a Sunday walk in the Sea Garden, along the path to Sarafovo or by Lake Vaya, the best time is between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., when it is warmest. The air is clean, the air quality index is 18 and is excellent, so you can run and ride a bike without worry. Those who train early in the morning should wear several thin layers, a hat and gloves, because at 3 degrees and with moisture from the sea, hands freeze quickly.

The seats on the playgrounds and the benches in the parks will be wet with dew until late morning. For an evening walk a warm jacket is needed, and after 5 p.m. it is already dark.

Slippery leaves and frosted windows

Drivers who set out early will find their windows frosted and should allow a few minutes for clearing. On the bridges and the road along the lakes the asphalt may be cold and slippery in places in the morning. Wet leaves on the streets in neighborhoods with old trees make braking harder, especially in a bend.

Tomorrow, Monday, is cloudy, from 0 to 11 degrees, with a 37 percent chance of light precipitation and a westerly wind of around 10 km/h.
