Autumn morning with fog over Burgas
If you went out on the roads this morning or strolled by the sea, you surely noticed that fog has enveloped the city. Today, Friday, 25 September, autumn arrives with a calmer and slightly more humid character. Although clouds will cover the sky for almost the entire day, it will not rain, so your walking plans will not be ruined by rain.
The birds are not resting either. The Burgas lakes — Atanasovsko and Vaya — are in the midst of the autumn migration along the Via Pontica route. If you have the opportunity to walk by the lakes, you will likely see large groups of birds preparing for their long flight south. This is a magical time for nature observers, even if the cloudy sky is not so photogenic.
What to expect during the day
Here is how the weather will change throughout the different parts of the day:
- (08:00): It will be quite chilly, around 12°C. The fog will be thick, and humidity will reach 88%, so it will feel colder — around 19°C.
- (14:00): When the fog clears, it will become more pleasant. The temperature will rise to 21°C. The clouds will remain, but it won't be cold. Humidity will drop to 50%.
- (20:00): After the sunset, which is at 19:02, a pleasant temperature of around 19°C will be maintained.
The wind will be from the east at a speed of about 14 km/h, but in places it may gust up to 31 km/h. This is a typical sea breeze that brings a little moisture but is not too strong. The UV index is 5, which means the sun can still „bite“ if it emerges from behind the clouds, so don't forget your sunglasses.
The sea and the air
For sea lovers, the news is good. The water is around 23°C — it is still perfectly fine for swimming, if the cool wind doesn't bother you. The waves are small, barely up to 30 centimeters, so the sea is almost like a lake. The air is very clean, with an AQI of 31, which is excellent for health and long walks along the coast.

If we look back, today's date has often been more variable. In 2016, on exactly 25 September, it rained, and in 1996, we also had showers. Usually at this time in Burgas, temperatures reach around 22°C. Today's meteorological condition is quite normal, slightly cooler compared to hot years like 2025, when it was up to 23°C, but it is still very pleasant.
Practical tips for Friday
Since today is Friday, many people will be on the move for the weekend. If you are driving in the morning, please be very careful due to the fog, especially on the road to the airport or to the lakes. For walks, we recommend „layering“ your clothes — take a light jacket or a sweatshirt for the morning, but later in the day you will only need a T-shirt or a light shirt. For sports — running or cycling — the weather is ideal because you won't overheat.
