Police officers from the 5th district station in Burgas went round elderly people in the city yesterday to explain how to protect themselves from scammers.
The talk, titled "How to Stay Safe from Crime and Fraud? A Guide to Peaceful Retirement," was led by junior police inspector Tanya Georgieva and police inspector Nikolay Karakolev.
The two officers visited elderly people living alone at their homes. They told them what kind of situations they might run into day to day and how to spot when something is wrong. They also showed them how to stay calm and confident if they come across scammers.
The idea for the visits came from Burgas's home social care service.
