Weather in Burgas and the district
On June 26, in Burgas and the region, pleasant summer weather is expected with more sun and more stable conditions compared to the interior of the country. The day will start clear, with rapid warming from the morning hours, and for most of the day, cloud cover will be insignificant.
The maximum air temperature in Burgas will reach about 28–29°C, and the minimum morning temperature will be around 19–20°C. Inside the district, especially far from the coast, thermometers may rise to 30°C, but the sea breeze will soften the heat along the coastline.
The probability of precipitation in the Burgas area is relatively low – about 10–20%. Temporary cloudiness is possible in the afternoon, but the risk of short-term showers and thunderstorms remains significantly lower than that in Central and Western Bulgaria.
The sea water temperature along the Southern Black Sea coast will remain around 22–23°C. This ensures comfortable conditions for swimming and water sports. The sea state will be around 2 degrees – light, with no significant dangerous phenomena on the beaches.
The wind along the coast will be light to moderate – mostly from the east–southeast in the first half of the day, with a gradual shift from the west–northwest in the afternoon. The average speed will be about 3–6 m/s, with brief intensifications during the passage of cloud systems.
Preliminary assessment of swimming safety in the Burgas area: green flag. Beach conditions are favorable – warm air, pleasant sea, and light swell. However, normal caution is recommended, especially in the afternoon hours with a higher solar index and possible temporary changes in the wind.
Sofia and the region
In Sofia and the surrounding areas, June 26 will be a cooler and more unstable day. During the day, cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop, and short-term precipitation accompanied by thunder is expected in many places. In some areas, more intense rain is possible.
The maximum temperature in the capital will be around 19–21°C, and the minimum – around 12–14°C. The wind will be light to moderate, from the north–northwest, with temporary intensifications during the passage of storm cells. The probability of precipitation is high – about 60–70%, especially in the afternoon and evening.
Eastern and Western Bulgaria
In Western Bulgaria, the day will start with broken clouds, but development of cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will begin before noon. In many places, there will be short-term, at times intense, rainfall and thunderstorms. More significant amounts of rain are expected in the central part of the country and in mountainous regions.
Maximum temperatures in the western regions will be mostly between 20 and 24°C, with minimums around 12–15°C. The wind will be light to moderate, and in the Danube Plain, the western part of the Upper Thracian Plain, and along the Struma valley, it will temporarily strengthen, coming from the north–northwest.
In Eastern Bulgaria, including the Northern Black Sea coast and Dobrudja, cumulus clouds will also develop. Short-term rain and thunder are expected in some places in the afternoon, but overall, precipitation will be more localized compared to Central Bulgaria. Maximum temperatures will range between 23 and 26°C, and minimums – around 15–18°C. The wind will be light to moderate, initially from the south–southeast, then it will orient from the west–northwest.
In the mountains
In mountainous regions on June 26, the atmosphere will be unstable. From the morning, there will be cumulus clouds along the ridges, which will grow into cumulonimbus during the day. In many places in the mountains, there will be short-term but often intense rainfall and thunderstorms, especially in the central parts of the Balkan Mountains and the Rila-Rhodope region.
The maximum temperature at about 1200 m altitude will be around 13–15°C, and at 2000 m – around 5–7°C. The wind will be light to moderate, mostly from the west–northwest, with intensifications along the ridges during storms. Mountain hikes should be planned with increased caution, and it is best to avoid the highest parts in the afternoon hours.
Black Sea coast
Along the Black Sea coast on June 26, the weather will be more unstable than typical for summer, but it remains relatively favorable for the beach. During the day, there will be variable cloudiness – sunny periods before noon and the development of cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds in the afternoon.
In isolated places along the coast, mainly in the afternoon hours, short-term local rainfall accompanied by thunder is possible. However, most of the day will pass without prolonged rain. The probability of precipitation along the coast itself is estimated at about 30–40%.
Maximum air temperatures along the Black Sea coast will be between 23 and 26°C – cooler in the northern parts, slightly warmer in the south. Minimum temperatures will be around 17–19°C. The sea water temperature will remain in the 20–22°C range, with slightly higher values along the Southern Black Sea coast.
The wind will be light to moderate – in the morning from the south–southeast, and in the afternoon it will gradually orient from the west–northwest. The expected average speed is 3–7 m/s. The sea state will be around 2 degrees, without significant dangerous phenomena.
Preliminary assessment of swimming safety along the Black Sea coast: predominantly yellow flag. Conditions are suitable for swimming, but increased caution is recommended due to variable wind, local storms, and possible temporary increases in sea state. In case of thunderstorm activity, swimming and staying in the water are not recommended.
