Weather in Burgas and the region
On June 25, a typical summer day is expected in Burgas and the region with hot weather and an unstable atmosphere in the afternoon. Sunny and clear weather will prevail until noon, after which cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop, with brief precipitation and thunderstorms possible in the afternoon and evening hours.
The maximum air temperature in Burgas will be around 29–31°C, and the minimum morning temperature – around 18–20°C. In some inland parts of the region, thermometers may reach up to 32–33°C, especially during longer sunny periods.
The probability of precipitation and thunderstorms in the area is increased – around 50–60%, especially in the afternoon and towards the evening, when atmospheric instability intensifies. Precipitation is expected to be brief, but intense in some places, with strong wind gusts during storms.
The sea water temperature near Burgas will remain around 22–23°C, providing pleasant conditions for swimming. Sea swell during the day will be around 2 points, though it may locally increase during stronger wind gusts and thunderstorm cells.
The wind along the coast will be light to moderate – mainly from the east-southeast, with speeds around 3–6 m/s, but temporary increases may be observed during storms.
Preliminary assessment for swimming safety in the Burgas area: yellow flag – for most of the day, conditions are suitable for swimming, but with increased caution due to stronger sun, potentially higher swell, and the risk of sudden weather deterioration during thunderstorms. Entering the sea is not recommended during clearly defined thunderstorm activity.
Sofia and the region
In Sofia and the surrounding areas on June 25, the weather will be mostly sunny until noon, hot in the afternoon hours, and with increased instability towards late afternoon and evening. The maximum temperature in the capital will be around 30–32°C, and the minimum – around 17–18°C.
Afternoon development of cumulus clouds is expected, with brief precipitation and thunderstorms possible in places in the region – especially around the mountains. The probability of precipitation is around 40–50%, with a local character. The wind will be light, at times up to moderate, mainly from the northwest or north, with speeds of 3–6 m/s.
Eastern and Western Bulgaria
In Western Bulgaria, the day will begin with sunny weather and rapidly rising temperatures. Maximum values will be between 30 and 35°C in the plains and lowlands, with minimums around 16–19°C. In the afternoon hours, the atmosphere will become unstable – cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop, and there will be brief precipitation with thunderstorms in many places. The probability of precipitation is around 50–60% for mountainous areas and 40–50% for the plains.
In Eastern Bulgaria, including the Danubian Plain and the northeastern regions, sunny and hot weather will also prevail until noon. Temperatures will reach 31–34°C, and the minimums will be around 18–20°C. The wind will gradually orient from the northeast, and in the afternoon along the coast, it will blow from the east and temporarily strengthen to moderate. In the late hours, precipitation will cover most of the northeastern regions, with a probability of precipitation of around 50–60% there.
In the mountains
In the mountainous regions on June 25, the weather will be risky in terms of afternoon storms. Until noon, there will be sunny periods and good visibility along the ridges and peaks, and temperatures at an altitude of 1200–1500 m will be around 18–22°C. In the highest parts, they will be around 10–14°C.
However, in the afternoon, powerful cumulonimbus clouds will develop, with brief but locally intense precipitation, thunderstorms, and possible hail. The wind along the ridges will be moderate, at times temporarily strong, from the west-northwest. Mountain hikes should be planned so that the high parts are avoided in the late afternoon, especially at the first signs of thunderstorm activity.
Black Sea coast
Along the Black Sea coast on June 25, it will be sunny for most of the day, with typical summer temperatures, but with possible instability in the late afternoon hours. In the morning hours, clear skies will prevail, and after noon, a light to moderate wind from the east-southeast will blow along the coast.
The maximum air temperatures along the coast will be between 26 and 30°C – in the northern part around 26–28°C, and in the southern part, including the Burgas area and south of it, around 28–30°C. The minimum temperatures will be around 18–20°C.
The sea water temperature along the entire coast will stay in the range of 21–23°C, with values on the southern Black Sea coast in the upper limit. The sea swell will be around 2 points, and with an increase in wind – locally up to 3 points.
The probability of precipitation along the coast itself is lower compared to inland areas, but it is not excluded that brief storms could develop in the late hours, especially in the northern and central parts of the coast.
Preliminary assessment for swimming safety along the Black Sea coast: predominantly yellow flag. Swimming is possible and conditions are generally good, but caution is necessary due to stronger sun (high UV index), more noticeable swell, and the risk of sudden weather deterioration during the onset of thunderstorms.
