The Parliament will vote on the no-confidence motion against the "Zhelyazkov" cabinet tomorrow (Thursday) at 1:30 PM. This was announced by the Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) Raya Nazaryan after the end of the debates on the vote, which lasted about four hours.
The sixth vote of no confidence was submitted by "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" (WCC-DB) and supported by "Alliance for Rights and Freedoms" (ARF) and "Moral, Unity, Honor" (MUH). The vote is due to failure in economic policy.
Key moments from the debates:
- WCC-DB: Criticized economic policy, the investment decline, and the debt spiral. Accused the ruling party of stealing the future.
- GERB-UDF: Highlighted positive economic indicators (GDP growth, saving funding under the Recovery and Resilience Plan) and the repeal of controversial tax measures.
- Revival: Emphasized the growing debt and the decline in industry.
- BSP: Stated that they would not support the vote, highlighting positive economic results.
- ITN: Highlighted positive economic indicators and low public debt.
- ARF: Considered that the vote was an adequate response to the government's incompetence.
- MUH: Criticized policies in the energy sector.
The ministers defended the cabinet's policies, emphasizing the measures to improve finances and the results achieved.
During the debate, WCC-DB complained about disruptions to the mobile signal at the site of the upcoming protest against the government this evening and called on the ruling party to solve this problem. The chairman of DPS and of the parliamentary group of "DPS-New Beginning" Delyan Peevski was not in the plenary hall, so the opposition placed a cardboard figure of him in his place.
