Water trap in Medni Rudnik: The road near Bricolage remains closed, police control traffic
The largest residential complex in Burgas "Medni Rudnik" today remains in transport chaos after the massive flooding during the night. The water around the "Mr. Bricolage" store has still not completely receded, and the road remains closed by the police due to the danger of vehicles getting stuck.
Critical situation since morning
The residents of the "Medni Rudnik" complex faced a real nightmare when trying to get out towards the center of Burgas. A water trap formed in the area of the "Mr. Bricolage" store, in which dozens of cars got stuck in the early morning hours. The police immediately closed traffic on the main artery, redirecting traffic to alternative routes. "Traffic from k/s 'Medni Rudnik' to the center of Burgas is difficult due to abandoned cars in the area of the 'Mr. Bricolage' store", announced the Municipality of Burgas. In some places, the water level reached dangerous heights, which necessitated the temporary suspension of traffic.
Transport collapse in the largest quarter
The consequences of the night rains were particularly severe on the residents of "Medni Rudnik" - the largest residential complex in the regional center. Due to the closed road to Tvarditsa-Marinka and the redirection of cars on detour routes, traffic in the area became extremely difficult. Drivers share that the journey from the central parts of the complex to the exit took over an hour. City transport buses also run with a disrupted schedule due to congestion. "Basically, the biggest problem is 'Medni Rudnik' in the direction of the center, in the area of Kapcheto", commented the manager of "Burgasbus" Eng. Petko Dragnev.
Partial state of disaster until October 6
The mayor of Burgas Dimitar Nikolov introduced a partial state of disaster in the entire municipality, which will be in force until October 6. The measure was necessary due to the massive flooding, which affected not only "Medni Rudnik", but also other parts of the city such as the Fishing Village, the village of Marinka and the villa zone "Chernitsite". In the last 12 hours, a record 250 l/sq.m of rain fell in the area of "Chernitsite" - an amount that significantly exceeds the monthly norm for October. In the quarter "Kraymorie" the rainfall reached 186 l/sq.m, and in the area of the Fishing Village - 117 l/sq.m.
Alternative routes and recommendations
With the ongoing problems with traffic around "Bricolage", the authorities recommend that residents use alternative routes or avoid unnecessary travel. Public transport also operates on changed routes, with buses on lines 11 and 12 being redirected along "Democracy" boulevard. The police continue to control the situation in critical areas, and additional traffic restrictions will be introduced if necessary. Citizens are encouraged to follow the information and plan their routes carefully.
Perspectives for normalization
Although the water has begun to drain, the full restoration of normal traffic in the area of "Medni Rudnik" still takes time. The municipality is actively working to eliminate the consequences, but due to the scale of the flood, the process will continue for several more days. What happened again raised the question of the infrastructure problems of the largest residential quarter in Burgas, which, when any main road is closed, turns into a transport nightmare for its residents.
