Military personnel and equipment from the composition of the Bulgarian Navy continue their participation today in the operation to search for the missing fishing vessel in the Black Sea, the Public Relations Department of the Navy announced.
This morning, a helicopter from the Chaika Naval Helicopter Air Base has been included in the search. The frigate Drazki is also participating in the operation.
The actions are carried out after receiving permission from the Chief of Defence, Admiral Emil Eftimov, and an order issued by the Commander of the Navy, Rear Admiral Kiril Mihaylov, to conduct a search and rescue operation.
During the past night, the frigate Drazki remained the only ship that continued the search in the area. The operation continues.
BTA recalls that yesterday the Ministry of Transport announced an incident with a fishing vessel in our waters. On February 18, at 11:10, a signal was received from the Coastal Center in Varna at the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center for a fishing vessel VN 8112, with which radar contact was lost. The ship was in the Maslen Nos area, and there were three people on board.
After receiving the signal, the National Plan for Search and Rescue at Sea was immediately activated, and all responsible institutions are involved in the operation. A motor rescue boat from the Executive Agency "Maritime Administration" was sent to the scene of the incident yesterday, which surveyed the area, but due to a sharp deterioration in weather conditions, at 12:50 it stopped operations and returned. A boat of the "Border Police" also joined the operation, which carried out a survey of the area, but due to the bad weather, at 13:45 yesterday, it returned to the base in Sozopol.
This morning, volunteers from Sozopol, Primorsko and Dobrich joined the search for the ship.
