Specialized teams from the composition of the Naval Forces (VMS) joined in assisting the population following the disastrous floods in the Burgas region. This was announced by the Ministry of Defense, emphasizing the military's readiness to provide support in the difficult situation.
The dramatic consequences of the floods in the region led to an urgent response from the authorities. Following requests for the activation of specialized teams from the composition of the VMS from the regional governor of Burgas and permission received from the Chief of Defense, the military received an order to act.
A modular formation from the Naval Base Burgas is already ready to act in the area of the Veleka River near the village of Sinemorets. The main task for the military personnel is to break through the sand spit, if necessary, to ensure the free drainage of the river's waters into the sea. Obviously, the situation required a quick and effective response to manage the situation.
At the same time, specialists from the VMS are included in a crisis headquarters that is working in the area of the city of Sveti Vlas. This coordination between the different services is of key importance for the effective management of the disaster.
The situation in the resort area around Nessebar is also under observation. Diving teams from the composition of the Flotilla of Combat and Auxiliary Ships, the Naval Base Varna and the Naval Base Burgas are providing assistance and cooperation for the evacuation of people in the area of the Elenite holiday village.
Good news came from the Regional Administration - Burgas, from where they announced that there will be no need to blow up the spit at the mouth of the Veleka River. The water has started to drain naturally, which will likely alleviate the situation in the area.
Earlier today, the Regional Administration sent a request to the Naval Base "Atia" to mobilize additional forces. This includes boats and divers, who should support the actions to manage the situation in the Elenite resort village. What happened underlines the difficult situation in the affected region and the need for coordinated efforts for recovery.
