Worsening Meteorological Conditions Expected in the Country

The upcoming Mediterranean cyclone heralds a significant deterioration of the meteorological conditions in the country, which is expected to cover the period from the evening of October 6 (Monday) to the morning of October 9 (Thursday). Widespread rainfall is expected, which will cause complications in many areas.

According to forecasts, Southeastern Bulgaria will be most affected during the night of October 7. Significant amounts of rainfall are expected there, which can reach 40-60 mm. Later in the day on October 7, north of the Stara Planina mountain range, even more intense rainfall is expected, with cumulative amounts that can exceed 80 mm. During the next 24 hours, the conditions for heavy rain persist, which means that the cumulative amounts will continue to increase.

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has already issued a second-degree warning, the so-called "orange code", for potentially dangerous weather for tomorrow, October 6. This warning emphasizes the seriousness of the upcoming meteorological phenomena and calls on citizens to be especially careful.

An interactive map that provides detailed information about the issued warnings is available at https://weather.bg/obshtini/index.php?z=u. This map is continuously updated to reflect the current development of the meteorological situation by regions and municipalities. The operability of this information is key for timely reaction and taking the necessary measures for protection.
