Intellectual Property Protection
Following the historic success of DARA and her song "Bangaranga" at Eurovision 2026, a series of applications were filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office to register the hit's name as a trademark. However, Virginia Records is adamant: this is unacceptable.
"Bad-faith attempts to misappropriate someone else's reputation, popularity, and distinctiveness," the music label stated.
The company emphasizes that the copyright for the title, lyrics, and all protectable elements of the song arose back in 2023. "Bangaranga" is now a symbol of national pride and possesses exceptional public recognition.
Next steps:
- Taking all necessary legal actions to protect the interests of the rights holders.
- A categorical call to all third parties to immediately withdraw their applications.
- Readiness to conduct administrative and judicial proceedings against the bad-faith applicants.
