Bulgarian tennis player Viktoria Tomova overcame American Ann Lee in the first round of the WTA 1000 tournament, demonstrating a strong and focused match.

Leading Bulgarian tennis player Viktoria Tomova achieved an impressive victory in the first round of the prestigious Cincinnati tournament, eliminating the 64th-ranked player in the world rankings, Ann Lee from the United States.

In an extremely competitive match, Tomova imposed her style and mastery, defeating the American player with a score of 6:4, 7:5 in a total of 1 hour and 42 minutes of intense play. The Sofia-based tennis player demonstrated exceptional psychological resilience, especially in critical moments of the match.

Initially, Tomova managed to make a breakthrough early in the match, although her opponent quickly restored the balance to 2:2. A key moment was another successful break for 4:3, with the Bulgarian missing a set point on her opponent's serve at 5:3.

In the second set, Tomova again led 3:2 but temporarily lost the initiative, falling behind 3:5. However, she managed to save one set point and with an impressive series of four consecutive games secured her victory.

Before the official match, Tomova had won two victories in the qualifications. Her next challenge is a match against Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska.

With this performance, the Bulgarian tennis player won $18,200 and 75 points for the world rankings, currently occupying the 105th position.
