Repair works on Trakia and Hemus motorways

From June 4, large-scale repairs of the asphalt pavement on two of the busiest motorways in Bulgaria will begin. The Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) is taking urgent measures to improve road safety before the active summer season.

The planned activities aim to ensure that drivers travel to the Black Sea resorts more comfortably and safely.

Traffic changes on Trakia motorway

The repair covers an 11-kilometer section in the lane towards Burgas (from the 218th to the 229th km) in the Stara Zagora region. During the work, traffic will be diverted into both lanes of the Sofia-bound carriageway. After the completion of the first stage, the activities will move to the lane for the capital.

Traffic organization on Hemus motorway

Repair work is also starting on a 9-kilometer section in the direction of Varna (from the 23rd to the 32nd km). Traffic is being redirected two-way into the Sofia-bound lane. In case of heavy traffic, the possibility of introducing reversible lanes to ease congestion is provided.

Deadlines and information

The RIA apologizes to citizens for the temporary inconvenience and urges drivers to drive with increased caution and strictly observe road signage.
