Air Transport in Crisis: Hub Closures in the Middle East and Flight Cancellations

The war in Iran is causing chaos in air transport, with key hubs such as Dubai and Doha closed. Airlines such as Aegean, Air Baltic, and Air Canada are canceling flights to key destinations in the region.

Global air transport remains severely disrupted after the war in Iran led to the closure of key aviation hubs in the Middle East, including Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi, leaving tens of thousands of passengers stranded.

Aegean Airlines

Greece's largest carrier, Aegean Airlines, has canceled flights to Tel Aviv until March 20, and to Beirut, Erbil and Baghdad until March 25. Flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been canceled until March 19, and to Riyadh until March 14.

Air Baltic

Latvian airline Air Baltic announced that all flights to and from Tel Aviv have been canceled until March 28, to and from Dubai until March 16, as well as the Dubai-Riga flight on March 17.

Air Canada

Canadian carrier Air Canada has canceled all flights to Tel Aviv until May 2 and to Dubai until March 28.
